With targeting increasingly automated by the platforms, creative has become the variable you actually control. Testing creative in an organized way is what separates the account that scales from the one that stalls.
Test angles before you test details
- Angle: the central promise — savings, speed, status, safety. It moves the result the most.
- Format: short video, carousel, static image, testimonial. Every audience consumes differently.
- Hook: the first 3 seconds or the first line. It decides whether anyone stops to watch.
- Proof: a number, before/after, a real customer. It backs the promise.
Start with the angle. Tweaking button color before you know which promise works is optimizing what doesn’t matter.
A test cycle that works
- Hypothesis: “customers respond better to saving time than to price.”
- 3 to 5 creatives per hypothesis: same angle, different executions.
- Fixed budget and window: run until you have enough data to decide, without touching it midway.
- One decision metric: cost per qualified lead, not CTR.
- Document it: what won, what lost, and why. The learning is the asset.
What to measure
Test win rate, cost per qualified lead of the winner, and time to creative fatigue — when CPA rises and it’s time to refresh.
At Trafegar, we treat creative as a process, not inspiration: a pipeline of hypotheses, tests, and learnings that feeds the media every week.
